 NEW LINE OF ACCESSORIES
Western Afro chic with a dash of traditional Africa. That is the essence
of Osheho (pronounced O - shay - ho),
a new range of accessories from London born designer Esther Oghenekaro.
Influenced by her Nigerian roots and British upbringing, her collection
of bags, bracelets and chokers are created from denim with Dutch wax
prints fused together with the popular cowry shell.
A student of the London School of Fashion, Esther learnt her
trade in the British and Italian industries. However it was during a
short spell visiting her parent's native Nigeria that the idea behind
the current collection formed.
“The strongest influences were the wax prints worn by the women in the
villages and the cultural importance of the cowry as a symbol of spiritualism.
Upon my return to London , I observed the resurgence of afro-centric
styles worn by fashionistas of all races in the clubs and on the streets.
It was this that really defined my vision. It's a collection for all
people, for every occasion.”
